Our Mission
The running skirt is a product of understanding the needs of women who want to
get out and live an active life. It's the newest idea in active wear accessories
that combines three things:
Function, Fitness and Fashion.
The Long Version
It all started on a sunny Saturday afternoon having a girls weekend in San Francisco. A couple of us decided to take on the challenge of running 6 miles through the golden gate park. Whoo-who we felt great!
We got in the car and drove across town and parked the car next to the beach. Just before we started on our journey, my friend looked down at her hand, and there was a PILE of keys. She said, "Now what am I suppose to do with these?" We laughed, "Yeah, those are the last things we want to loose".
When I arrived back in Vancouver I challenged myself to continue the 6-mile run every weekend around the seawall in Stanley Park. Each weekend, I would drive my car to the starting point of the seawall and have in my hands keys, ipod, water bottle, ID, chap stick, and change for a coffee when the run was done.
All I wanted was to be free to run.
As I progressed and got more and more into running, I had a look at the pants I was wearing and was freaked out by the sight of spandex. Now really, who wants to see all that?
Then it came to me. What this sport needs is a running skirt.
I did my research and found that there are other running skirts out there but nothing quite like this.
About The Founder
At my core is love and passion for design. I'm devoted to lifestyle and the concept of creating the way you want to live and the running skirt is just one result of this philosophy. Since I was a child I was into creating things. Always had art classes to go to, putting on shows and even dabbling in fashion. I currently work as the creative director at Vision Critical, a software and technology company developing tools for the market research industry. The Running Skirt is my other job, a passion I explore to be creative and develop new things.
